This is the last book in the Game of Thrones saga until George Martin finally finishes the next or final instalment, and the first of the five volumes that I rate a little less than five stars.

It's just as fantastical, equally compelling and if there were 20 books in the series I'd probably give up horror and sci-fi - my favorite two genres - and embark full time into fantasy as in the days of old.

The problem, if you can call it that, is not coming full circle in a totally satisfactory way. I imagine George Martin found it impossible to sum everything up and tie in every loose end perfectly, and you can feel that as you progress - a book that doesn't feel complete even though it's supposed to be the grand conclusion.

It's simply the next book in the series and one day we'll get some serious answers, I hope.

Thank you for a terrific, almost life-changing experience and even though many of the GoT books are overly long and drawn out, I enjoyed practically every minute of this almost perfect fantasy romp.

Does it beat Lord of The Rings?

No, that's impossible because of sentimental and historic reasons, but it comes mighty close.
