Perhaps someone can correct me on my 2-star review and leave a comment, but I found this book really... not necessarily boring, but depressing.
Fantastical, beautiful, enlightening and definitely not a dud, but rather hopeless.
None of us are going to live forever and the jungle will eventually creep back and reclaim its territory, and maybe I read this years ago when my life was rosy and looking positive - new wife, growing family and so much to look forward to hence why I found it a drudge?
Right place, right time, or maybe it's overrated and boring?
Sad, melancholy and retrospective, perhaps you have to be in an aligned frame of mind with enough maturity to enjoy it?
