The Raven
by
Edgar Allan Poe

Poetry, Classics, Gothic, Horror

Richard Alex Jenkins
The Raven is a very moving and disturbing short poem about the loss of the narrator's beloved Lenore. It has quite an impact.
It's morbid and compelling and epitomizes grief.
For extra effect, listen to it on YouTube to appreciate how dark and bleak the sentiments are. It only takes five minutes of your time.
The Raven is worth repeating because of its hopeless flirtation with the grim reaper, and if you want further entertainment, just look at a picture of Edgar Allan Poe's face; an oddly twisted fellow with strange kindness and distant understanding in his eyes.
