The Red Room

This isn't a short story but a short chapter about a man who goes to a mysterious location and spends the night in the Red Room, waking up in the morning with a bandaged head and no recollection other than being haunted by fear and all the candles and the fire being snuffed out.
While scary in concept, there's not enough content to justify publication as a single unit, which is how it was marketed to me and why I bought it, albeit for pennies.
Sure it's worth reading because it's written by H.G. Wells, which is a plus point.
